GFIA publishes Annual Report for 2018-19

GFIA is the voice of the world’s insurers and its new Annual Report details the federation’s activities on topics ranging from managing cyber risks, dealing with disruptive technology and tackling barriers to international trade.

 

The Report outlines GFIA’s work in support of the Japanese G20 presidency’s goals, particularly in relation to addressing the problems created by ageing societies, as well as the input GFIA has provided to consultations by international bodies such as the International Association of Insurance Supervisors, the International Organization for Standardization and the OECD.

 

Also included in the Report are opinion pieces by external authors:

 

  • Toshihide Endo of the Financial Services Agency of Japan explains how he sees insurers’ role in addressing economic and societal changes.
  • Victoria Saporta of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) outlines the IAIS’s 2020–2024 strategic plan, which focuses on fintech, cyber, climate and conduct.
  • Butch Bacani of UN Environment’s Principles for Sustainable Insurance Initiative urges insurers to respond strongly to the climate crisis.
  • Annamaria Lusardi of the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center calls for a comprehensive approach to improving the financial wellness of individuals.
